ALBERTA BASIC SECURITY TRAINING (ABST) COURSE

Alberta Basic Security Training is a 40-hour course mandated by the Solicitor General of Alberta. This course must be completed prior to working in the security industry. ABST covers the basics of the security industry, including relevant laws from the Criminal Code of Canada as well as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. For eligibility to obtain your ABST licence you must be over 18 years old, eligible to work in Canada, be fluent in English, clean criminal record, have no outstanding criminal charges.

Upon successful completion of ABST 40 hour in house course, we will have arranged a proctor to come in to also do the exam at the end of the course, exam fees are included in our in-class fees. After you’ve successfully completed your final exam with a score of 80% or higher, you’ll get your training certificate by mail within one week. Once you receive your certificate you will apply to the Solicitor General for a Security Licence with the application form we have provided for you in your in-house course. Our course is held at our facility in Red Deer, AB as well we have the ability to travel to other locations in the province of Alberta if there is a request to do so.
